Important days you block out...er remember...

I had almost forgotten about this day. Last week someone we met mentioned it to us. I remembered it again today as I went through thousands of photographs trying to find photos of my Grandfather for a slideshow my aunt is putting together. So you may be seeing some oldies but goodies for a while. ;)
These were taken in October of 2006. It was the day that Flavio FINALLY got his citizenship. (I say FINALLY because I was the one to push and push and push until he got it done. Sheesh, at least no one can say that he married me just to become a citizen.) Anyway, for some reason it was just him and me with the kids. They don't let you sit with your family that is getting the citizenship, so Flavio had Jothan and I had Emms. It was HORRIBLE. BOTH children SCREAMED all. the. way. through. the. ceremony. NOT kidding. I had people SHHhhhhing me. BELIEVE ME, I would have gladly left, had I not spent countless hours and money waiting for this day.
I had just gotten into photography...these photos are so blah. I wish I even had a photograph of Flavio by himself. I remember requesting such, but he was so worn out with the kids as was I that we just didn't do it. I remember wanting my children there for that moment SO badly...and they could have cared less.
Looking back these photos mean so much to me. My husband looks so young, it was not that long ago. Maybe a year and a half only? Why does my Emm seem so grown up to me now? Looking at these three people, my heart is full. I feel like the richest person on the planet. I'll take the tantrums, the fighting, the sleepless nights, the worn out frazzled days. Just to know that I GET TO HAVE THEM FOREVER.

I have these same feelings! Recently I've been stumbling across old photos and the first thing that catches me is how YOUNG we look! With Ayla I can not believe how much she has grown and changed just from photos from November! It's insane!

This is awesome! I love to travel down memory lane with you. At the time it doesn't seem worth it to try and capture the memories but looking back it always is. These photos tell an amazing story with a beautiful journey. I love it. Thank goodness for photography!

Pictures are the best! Glad you captured that important day.

I love that dress Emm is wearing, I have an identical one for Elise-I think some gorgeous lady off the street had an extra one hanging in her closet and gave it to me a few years ago.

Miss you Kim.

Too funny. We have a similar one outside of the US Embassy in Chile after my baby became a US Citizen... nobody is really looking at the camera and there is only 1 picture(a security guard tried to take the camera away after that).

Awww, what infants! It looks like Flavio definitely has his hands full.

Love memory lane trips!

This is all too familiar :-) The first thing I thought was how big Emm's has gotten. Seriously, she is so grown up. So funny to look at now even though I know at the time you just wanted to hide.

i too agree with Leisha i can not belive how big EMMS has gotten! I guess pictures really can say a million words and you can always remember that day and how frustrated you were with the kids! BUT YEAH for Flavio that day for finally getting his citizenship! I know it has been over a year but still that is HUGE accomplishment for him! love your family!
