Can't Sleep.

It is an insane hour of the morning. I took a REALLY long nap "yesterday" afternoon, I think this is my problem. I wanted to ask you guys:

Do you ever have really vivid and intense dreams?

I wouldn't consider myself a dreamer. I dream on occasion, (well enough to remember I suppose). It is very rare and few and far between. This last week though...EVERY night I have had INTENSE dreams. I wake up feeling EXHAUSTED, like I need to sleep the moment I awake.

The dreams have been about a lot of different things. Some were about LJ...some were about his mom. Others were about work...last night I dreamt we had a baby...and I kept losing the baby. (As in...where did I put the baby? Why isn't the baby in the crib...even when the baby was in my arms...the next moment the baby was gone.)

I know this probably seems really easy to decipher. I am probably just dreaming out the stress of the last little while. Honestly? I haven't been more at peace and happier in a really LONG time with my life. I just don't get the dreaming. A week people. Every night. Has this ever happend to you?

  1. Because of the extreme depression I get when I'm pregnant, last time we opted for medication and counseling during the pregnancy. It was good, helped, but also forced me to deal with residual crap from adolecense. Because of the frequent nightmares I got to where I was afraid to go to sleep because I would relive terror every single night. There were two things my counselor recommended. First write down the feelings, etc and put the paper you wrote it on in a box. Every so often you can shred all the papers and the associated stress with it. The second was that I needed to find a way to fight back in my dreams. Take action so to speak. It took a while for sure. But eventually I got to where I could fight back, call the cops, etc. It actually worked. Our situations are very different. BUT do some prayer and meditation calm your mind so it doesn't resport to attacking you in your sleep. If any of that makes sense.

  2. I have ALWAYS had very vivid dreams. I tell Ben, they could actually be made into movies. i hear music and smells. It is really weird. Sometimes, when I wake up I want to go back to sleep to finish the dream.

  3. I am not much of a dreamer. I hardly ever dream. But the whole time Dustyn was gone last month, I had weird, weird vivid dreams. They weren't necessarily scary or anything (usually about adopting a baby or something about everyday life), but something that I was not use to. And they were totally exhausting and far too real. I'd wake up and have to spend the next hour trying to sort things out. I haven't had any since he got home. I guess it was just the stress of being home alone. (I'm a chicken)

  5. I used to dream a ton. Not these days. Probably because by the time I actually go to sleep I am exhausted. On the rare dreaming occassion I can only vaguely remember what my dream was about. If it's something I remember I know it's for a reason :-)

  6. I dream. A lot. Often times they are disturbing. Like I don't share them with many people because they are so weird. Then I have ones that I'm being chased... and can't get away... I don't love those ones. I don't love dreaming.

  7. I have the MOST vivid and surreal dreams only when I'm pregnant - but they are not limited to baby related topics.... ;-) Some are more fun than others - I have very realistic dreams sometimes about terrible events.

  8. Almost every night I have the most crazy dreams. Cats seem to be a reocurring theme within my dream. Unwanted cats that somehow keep multiplying at insane rates. I also always dream about my condo having a secret room. A secret room that I seem to always forget about and then casually remember.

Why is it that things and sequences in dreams seem to make perfect sense at the time until you wake up and think..."What the...?"

  10. I usually never dream. Unfortunately I have been lately. That is the downside of life being intense. Maybe is the bodys way of trying to sort things out, make since of it. Not sure. But He!!, when I lay down at night and go to sleep the point is to FORGET and escape the worries of the day or life! Hmm... Also to wake up refreshed to conquer lifes events for the next day. Doesn't help when you wake up more tired.

  11. i have only very vivid dreams. alot of times you have the scary dreams or the hard dreams after the scary hard stuff is over. a way for your subconscious to vent, but it knows that venting all that crap while you are going through it is NOT an appropriate time, so it patiently waits for the storm to pass, so that it can tell its traumas and dramas. like how you usually get migraines not in the middle of something big but right after something big. cuz everything has been so tense, that when you relax that is when things get a little iffy. make sense. lets hope so. go fight win. jury is still out on scrapbooking. i know i need to do it. but doesnt mean i like it.
